Movies I Think Everyone Needs to Watch

The title explains it all. Here's a list of movies I believe that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime.

  1. "Donnie Darko" (2001)
I appreciate this move a lot. I named myself after it, after all. I found it very relatable, as a teenager struggling with various mental health issues, especially intrusive thoughts.

  2. "Alien" (1979)
This movie is a cinematic masterpiece. It changed my brain chemistry. This movie and Donnie Darko are what inspired me to become a filmmaker. Despite Alien now being a very old movie, it certainly stands the test of time, and still has many important lessons that are still relevant in the modern age.

  3. "When the Wind Blows" (1986)
When the Wind Blows is a slightly lesser-known movie (I think). Its commentary on nuclear warfare and how the government handles it is incredible. It's jarring and really snaps you back to the realities of war.

  4. "Opal" (2020)
This is a short independent film rather than a full movie. It was created by Jack Stauber, an artist I appreciate and respect a lot. I enjoy how it handles themes of identity, child abuse and neglect, coping mechanisms, separation from reality, and so on and so forth. The soundtrack is also very good, and the visuals are striking and appealing (to some).
