Modern Day Bullying

Most of the time, people think of bullying as shoving others around, insulting them, so on and so forth. And while that does still happen nowadays, it's faded somewhat, and bullying has become more subtle.

I've noticed recently that there's this kid in my music class who has been put on the spotlight and pointed out by many other students. Why exactly, I don't know. It's hard to explain if you don't witness it firsthand. Often, the other kids will just randomly say his name, talk about him, involve him in random discussions, ask him out-of-pocket questions, so on and so forth.

It's subtle, but I can imagine how it's still humiliating. The same has happened to me before, and being neurodivergent, I often don't recognize it. I don't know if it's the same for him, though.

Honestly, he's very, very annoying. I dislike him. However, of course, he doesn't deserve to be mocked.

I think that bullying nowadays is far more subtle and bullies themselves can play it off easily. I also think that teachers are afraid to point out bullying. I believe this has always been an issue; I don't know if it's a recent thing, but it's still prominent.

I find that nowadays people are a lot more sensitive. I don't mean to be rude when saying that, of course, but I do think it's an issue. A lot of people are afraid to acknowledge negative things out of fear of being "too mean." I think it's great that we as a society have become more sensitive and empathetic, but I also think that we're backtracking a bit.
